The mystery of history
Ann grew up in the city of Chicago. She has been fascinated with the early history of Chicago ever since her Dad showed her the brass outlines of Fort Dearborn in the sidewalks at Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue when she was seven years old. Through the years she often tried to imagine what life was like back in the 1840s, the early days of Chicago’s settlement.
Inspiration strikes!
When Ann moved to the Fox Valley in 1989, friends introduced her to Garfield Farm Museum. This historic site captured her imagination and her heart. Walking into the 1846 Brick Tavern at Garfield Farm was like walking back in time to early Chicago. The authenticity of the site inspired her to write a story about it.
